A much-loved Cheshire hospital is set for a funding boost thanks to the pints being pulled Northwich’s beer festival.

The annual charity event, now in its 31st years, has secured a key sponsor in Lock Stock Self Storage, who have stepped in to help cover the running costs.

It means more of the cash raised at this year’s “Brews, Tipples and Tunes” will go straight to the Victoria Infirmary in Northwich part of the Mid Cheshire Hospitals charity.

The event at Brio Leisure’s Memorial Court in Northwich runs from Friday evening from 6pm to 11pm, on Saturday lunchtime from noon to 4pm and Saturday night from 6pm to 11pm.

The organisers, Northwich Rotary Club, estimate the festival has poured nearly £750,000 into good causes over three decades – and they’re determined to top up the total.

Rotarian Tim Henshall thanked Lock Stock for its generous support of the community event.

He said: “The support from Lock Stock Self Storage is absolutely brilliant.

“In this day and age it is very difficult to get sponsors, and they are one of only two title sponsors.

“The rest of the money is through people sponsoring a barrel of beer, which is the only other way of raising funds.

“To get title sponsors is very, very hard. If companies like Lock Stock don’t give support, then financially it’s very hard to stage these type of events.

“So when a company like Lock Stock offers you some money to support you, it’s fantastic.”

Last year’s festival raised £6,500 and organisers hope the fresh backing will push the figure up.

Tim added: “Raising as much money for the infirmary is what it’s all about.

“If we can cover our costs before we open the door, that’s the ideal scenario.

“The money from the event will be going to the local infirmary in the town to pay for the services that the NHS don’t pay for, so hopefully that will encourage people to come along and support that, with infirmary is part of the Mid Cheshire Hospitals charity”

Changes have been made to this year’s event to attract a new generation of visitors, including a rebranding of the title of the event as “Brews, Tipples, and Tunes.”

Lock Stock sponsor the annual beer festival, Northwich.

Festival-goers can enjoy craft ales, cocktails, gins and even the current Beer of Britain winner from the Penzance Brewing Company.

Live music will come from Bohemian Kings on Friday night, with Moondogz and Salt Rox taking the stage on Saturday night.

Lock Stock, which recently expanded into Cheshire with two new Northwich sites, said it was proud to support the town and help raise money for the hospital.

The company has a policy of supporting charities, community groups and sports clubs in the areas where it operates across North and Mid Wales, Merseyside, Shropshire and Herefordshire and now Cheshire.

“We’re really proud to be part of this year’s Northwich Beer Festival,” said Lock Stock Self Storage site manager Richard Warner.

“It’s a fantastic community event that brings people together, and as we expand into Cheshire, it’s important for us to immerse ourselves locally.

“Supporting events like this is a great way to give something back, and we’ve already seen the fantastic work of Northwich Rotary Club through their brilliant Scooter Festival, which we were delighted to sponsor too.

“Having taken over two sites in Northwich this summer, it feels even more special to be involved in something that means so much to the town and look forward to providing storage in the area and involving ourselves further in local events and causes.”

The company acquired the new sites in June following the purchase of three sites from U Lock It Self Storage, including one in Runcorn..

Lock Stock has a total of six sites in the North West and two more in the works, one of which it hopes to open by the end of the year.
