Two Crewe Alexandra stars have officially opened our newest storage park on the site of a devastating fire.

Centre forward Louis Moult and club captain Mickey Demetriou cut the ribbon at Lock Stock Self Storage’s latest Cheshire site in Crewe – land once occupied by a disused printworks destroyed by a major blaze in August 2024.

The transformation marks a new chapter for the area, with the 1.2 acre site just a short distance away from the club’s Mornflake Stadium on the corner of Catherine Street and Francis Street.

It’s now home to more than 150 storage containers, solar powered lighting and keyless entry technology.

Lock Stock, the latest partner of the Sky Bet League Two Club, said the Crewe facility is the latest step in its expansion across the county, bringing investment and regeneration to the town.

Meanwhile, the players praised the company’s support for the team and the local community, saying it was “fantastic” to see a business helping to breathe new life into the area.

Ollie Beach, Lock Stock’s marketing officer, said: “We are delighted to have opened up in Crewe as we expand further into Cheshire.

“We are particularly excited to have opened this site, which is right in the heart of the community and is another important step in our growth.

“We are really pleased to be backing local causes and to support the Alex who have an incredible following, history of success, and fantastic track record for developing talent.

LockStock self storage opens in Crewe and are sponsoring Crewe Alexandra FC Pictured Ollie Beech and Richard Warner of lockstock and (Centre) Crewe Alexandra FC players Louis Moult and Mickey Demitreou.

“They are already having a really good season, and hopefully we can celebrate a bit more come the end of it.

“We are also sponsoring Louis Moult for the season, who is a fantastic centre forward, and we have an advertising board up at The Mornflake Stadium as well.”

Striker Moult said: “It’s a great partnership. Lock Stock follow similar philosophies as we do as a football club in terms of working with local communities and charities.

“It’s good to have them on board here, and we are delighted to be helping promote them as a business.

“It’s always good to get sponsors in, especially Lock Stock whose new site is so close to our ground, literally within walking distance.

“We are a well-run club, a great community club, and we do our best to get out and support local businesses like Lock Stock as well as other good causes.”

Centre half Demetriou added: “It’s important for us as a club to have sponsors like Lock Stock on board.

“They are an expanding company and it’s great to have their support.

“It’s always good to get local sponsors into the football club as that partnership brings financial security to the club and valuable advertising for Lock Stock.”

Lock Stock regional manager Richard Warner said the firm was pleased to become part of the Cheshire town’s business community.

He said: “We came here because it’s one of those areas which has high demand for what we do.

“And Crewe is getting bigger and bigger and you’ve got new housing being built around the outside of the town now.”

During the official opening, Moult and Demetriou signed a Crewe Alexandra third kit football shirt, which is the prize in an online competition run by Lock Stock to promote their new site in the town. The competition is being run on the firm’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Lock Stock is encouraging people to like and share the competition on social media and to follow the instructions on the post to have a chance of winning the signed shirt.

The opening of the new 1.2 acre site has led to the regeneration of the area. The new state-of-the-art eco-conscious site is the latest step in the growth of Lock Stock, the UK’s largest container-based storage company.

The firm has more than 30 sites in North Wales, the North West and the border counties, with more than 5,500 storage units now in operation.

The Crewe facility is the fifth site it has opened in Cheshire this year, after opening sites in the north of the county in Winsford, Runcorn and Northwich, where there are sites in Lostock and Wincham.

The site boasts solar-powered security lighting and keyless entry with opening hours from 6am to 11pm. It also has a brand new advanced online booking system with monitored CCTV and an intercom with a link to head office in Denbigh so new customers can sign up and start storing almost immediately.
