As part of a ‘Share the Success’ bonus scheme, a biochemical firm has awarded a company-wide bonus of over £400 for each of the roughly 380 employees employed at their Wrexham site.

The firm, Ipsen UK, announced that they had exceeded their 2021 targets and praised the resilience and agile nature of their research and development teams in ensuring this was possible.

The bonus was received at the end of 2021 and given to every employee except those at director level or otherwise have the highest level of responsibility.

This includes their scientists, as well as those responsible for administration, human resources and van hire in Wrexham amongst any other responsibilities, and the site plans to expand over the next three years.

The French company, which also has an operating hub in the USA, was first established in 1981.

Wrexham is the home of their Manufacturing and Biologics Development, which expanded recently to a total workforce of 400 people with an expectation that another 200 will be employed by 2025 as part of a £150m investment.

Part of this investment has made the site the first to use 100 per cent renewable energy sources, with their Milton Park, Oxfordshire and Bath Road, Slough sites expected to follow soon after.

Bonus schemes such as ‘Share the Success’ emphasise how important the day-to-day work of every employee is, particularly during a time of many challenges, particularly in the biochemical industry, and help to create a motivated, unified team ready to face the challenges of the new year.
