Self-storage firm Lock Stock Storage has answered an appeal from Vale of Clywd MP Chris Ruane to help a local fishing club by giving it somewhere to store their equipment.

Mr Ruane – who won his seat back in the General Election in June last year – issued the call for assistance to help the Rhyl Cut Fishing Association – and the biggest containerised self-storage company in Wales was more than happy to answer.

He commented on the news, saying: “Now Lock Stock have stepped in as well to help and to provide somewhere the club can keep all their equipment safely and close to the Cut where they do their fishing.

“It’s making a real difference to the area because there’s been a big drop in crime and anti-social behaviour since the fishing club started and that means a lot to me because this is where I grew up.”

Lock Stock operations manager Stuart Bowker went on to add that the company was even able to use its own articulated lorry with a crane on it to drop the equipment container off for the club in the perfect spot for them.

“This container will have survived an eight-week, 12,000-mile sea voyage from the Far East to the UK so it’s well able to withstand anything the North Wales weather can throw at it and it’s lined for extra protection and is very secure too,” he continued.

The club is now able to support the likes of perch, rudd, tench, carp and stickleback in its pond – so fishing opportunities are certainly ripe around here.
