With the pandemic and UK lockdown scuppering all of our plans to jet off around the world on summer holidays, it’s music to our ears to hear that the scorching sunshine is going to come to us here in the UK instead.
That’s right, Cheshire is set to bask in a mini heatwave this weekend, with temperatures soaring to dizzy heights that surpass Tenerife and Lanzarote, and even Rio de Janeiro in Brazil!
After several days of torrential rain and grey skies, we can’t wait to soak up some sunshine, with temperatures predicted to hit around the 30-degree mark on Friday.
The Met Office said: “A brief very warm spell is likely for many areas at the end of this week with a good deal of sunshine. Scattered thundery showers developing overnight then more sunny spells on Saturday.”
BBC forecaster Nick Miller said: “You’d be forgiven for thinking autumn had come early, but Friday shows summer fighting back, with temperatures widely in the mid to upper 20s to the low 30s.”
But he doesn’t think this spike in temperature is set to last for long: “One day doesn’t make a heatwave and, well, it’ll be out as soon as it arrives, that heat.”
The blue skies and blazing sunshine might not be here to stay, but we at least get a mini-break to the Canary Islands this weekend, even if it’s on home turf. So be sure to make the most of the summer holiday vibes and get your family and friends over for a socially-distanced garden gathering, fire up the barbecue and get those drinks flowing.
Because on Monday we might be back to the good old-fashioned British weather…
