Businesses looking for van hire in Bangor will also be wondering what the general election might bring businesses in Wales.
Here we look at some of the promises made by Plaid Cymru, specifically for Wales.
Tens of thousands of green jobs
Plaid Cymru has the ambitious target of making Wales free from carbon and single-use plastic by 2030. Beating Labour’s Green New Deal which was toned down for its manifesto.
Launching the manifesto, Plaid Cymru leader Adam Price said: “Let 2030 be the year of three zeros – zero carbon, zero waste, zero poverty.
“We have the power, we have the potential to create tens of thousands of new high-skilled jobs as Wales becomes the cradle of the green industrial revolution.”.
Plaid Cymru has promised the construction of tidal lagoons in Swansea Bay and Cardiff in the south and Colwyn Bay in the north as well as an offshore windfarm off Ynys Môn (Anglesey) and a barrage on the River Usk in south Wales.
Building green houses
Plans for a £5bn home-energy efficiency programme and the building of 20,000 green social houses were unveiled as part of the party’s manifesto at the beginning of November.
If realised, this building pledge could see not only thousands of new homes but thousands of new jobs in the construction and related sectors.
