Businesses of all shapes and sizes look set to benefit from the launch of new parcel boxes around Chester and North Wales, allowing them to post bigger packages far more easily… and just in time for Christmas!
According to Cheshire Live, there will be 36 parcel postboxes in evidence, to join the 1,400 or so ones that can be found around the rest of the UK, making it easier for marketplace sellers and small businesses to send out prepaid parcels.
Head of campaigns at Royal Mail Mark Street was quoted by the news source as saying: “The introduction of parcel postboxes in Chester and North Wales means that customers can now send parcels with pre-paid postage and their returns in the same way that they do letters.
“The new parcel postboxes provide added flexibility to online sellers who might be running a business in their spare time and not keeping regular office hours.”
Interestingly, this new parcel postbox has been described as one of the biggest innovations in parcels since 1883, which is when parcel post was launched. It is also the first big change of use for the postbox since its introduction 160 years ago.
Businesses already thinking ahead to Christmas should know that Parcelforce Worldwide has now announced its last posting dates for Christmas this year. For next day UK services, the recommended last posting date is December 23rd.
If you’re posting abroad to the US, Canada and Western Europe via the global express service, you will need to send your parcels by December 17th.
