One North Wales business is expanding and has created a unique new attraction for dog owners and their pooches.
PetPlace in Abergele is opening a dog-friendly cinema as part of its £1.3 million revamp. In addition to the flashy attraction for dog lovers, the store expansion also includes a play park and a coffee bar that sells treats and drinks for dogs, as well as people.
The Daily Post revealed that the purpose-built cinema cost around £100,000 and has space for 40 adults, who can sit in deckchairs, and 50 dog mats.
Among the films set to be screened are Bolt, Turner and Hooch, Lady and the Tramp, and Beethoven.
Speaking to the newspaper, managing director Sion Pritchard explained that he was inspired by the pet care industry in the US and used his experiences there to influence the revamp at the Abergele store.
He added that the company is focused on the health and happiness of the animals, rather than on sales targets. It’s an approach that the staff across all five of PetPlace’s stores support.
“It’s going to be incredible; we will hold movie nights, specific sessions for puppies and senior dogs and other activities,” Mr Pritchard said.
“Everyone here is so excited to be part of something special, and staff at our other stores can’t wait for us to roll it out across the rest of the group,” he revealed.
If you’re looking for a way to treat your pooch this Christmas, a cinema trip and a treat or drink from the dog-friendly coffee bar could be perfect for both of you. iNews recently highlighted some other gifts you could get your dog this festive season, which included a dog jumper, quirky dog bowls and a dog walking set.
