National disability charity Sense, which helps people with disabilities like deafness and blindness, has joined forces with Lock Stock Self Storage, one of the biggest companies of its kind in the UK, to help drive an expansion into North Wales.

To this end, a venue in North Wales where none other than The Beatles once played is set to be one of five new sites in the country where the charity will be opening a shop.

Of the five new sites, one will be in Llandudno and another will be established in Rhyl, with a blue plaque set up to commemorate July 14th 1962 – which is when the Fab Four played for the first time in Wales. In all, between 20 and 30 shops are expected to set up across Wales as Sense expands across the country.

Lock Stock director Nick Powell, who founded the Denbigh-based self-storage firm back in 1999 along with brother Shon, said of the expansion: “We are delighted to have been able to help such a worthy charity which does such important work. This is their first move into Wales and they have been able to make four containers available to them alongside each other on one site which makes the logistics of distribution easier for them.”

“Container storage like this works very well for organisations like Sense and for commercial businesses as well because they provide safe, secure storage facilities which can be accessed at all times of the day or night.”

The stores will be supplied with stock kept in four 40ft containers at the Lock Stock site in Saltney, near Chester, which will serve as a hub depot for the charity.
