A planning application for a state-of-the-art skate park in Rhyl has been submitted to Denbighshire Council, following a public consultation that saw over 200 people contributing their views on where it should be located and how it should be designed.
The Daily Post reported that the new facility is set to be constructed on a disused green at East Parades Bowls Club.
There are four greens at the bowls club, just one of which will be used for the skate park. The aim is to increase footfall along the promenade, with part of the plan to include a cafe and other amenities on the site.
Alliance Leisure is behind the scheme, which will feature a traditional concrete skate park with a variety of rails, slopes and jumps, as well as seating areas and greenery.
The aim is to ensure that it is “sympathetically blended in with the existing area”, the proposal stated.
The need for a new skate park comes after the previous one in Rhyl was bulldozed to make way for a new water park.
Last month the Daily Post noted that construction of this facility is progressing well, with the attraction due to open in early 2019.
This £15 million development will feature a host of water slides, both in and outdoors, as well as a children’s play area, climbing facilities and an outdoor splash zone complete with sun loungers and cafe terraces.
