Wrexham’s businesses and community groups have been dismayed at some of the media coverage the town has received of late.
Stories have appeared in the national press about drug problems in the town and many who live there feel as though their home has been badly portrayed.
A group of photographers, businesses and community groups have come together to do something about this negative image, the Leader reported.
Members of the Llangollen friendly photography group took it upon themselves to head into the town centre earlier this month and capture its beautiful side. The result is a selection of photos showcasing Wrexham’s architecture and green space.
Chair of the Wrexham Town Centre Forum Nigel Lewis said that while it’s understandable that dealing with complex issues takes time, it’s good for local people to feel as though their town is being portrayed in a positive light.
“It is important for us to spread positive messages and let people know that there’s nothing to be afraid of here,” he stated.
Mr Lewis added there’s a lot of reasons why businesses may want to set up in Wrexham, including the expected fall in business rates, affordable car parking around the town and its beautiful buildings.
Earlier this year work began on a regeneration project at the Wrexham People’s Market, which will see the local arts centre incorporated into the trading hub.
