Llandudno in North Wales has been named on a global list of traveller’s must-see destinations. Wales Online reports that the elegant Victorian seaside town is the only UK entry on a list compiled by the holiday rental portal Booking.com. The eight places were the highest trending destinations between June and September 2021.

Llandudno shares its accolade with exotic and far-flung destinations such as Taichung, Taiwan, Gramado, Brazil, and Montpellier, France. The attractions of North Wales are already no secret to most of us here in the UK, with its many beaches, castles, and stunning wild landscapes.

The holiday resort famous for the spectacular views from the Great Orme also gained another level of fame last year, as its roaming goats reclaimed the streets during lockdown. They hit the headlines again in September, when a herd of 21 silly Billies got stranded on rocks as high tide drew dangerously close.

The goats were rescued by teams from Conway County Borough Council and the RSPCA. Inspector Pugh from the charity said: “They got into trouble after two female goats came into season – and they were pursued by Billy goats ending up on an outcrop of rock and in real danger.”

He added: “The plan was hatched to create a walk-way off the rocks for the goats and back to safety – so we made a tiered path of 50 hay bales, and gradually, the goats made their way back.”

As well as its goats, the town is also famed for its abundance of hotels and eating places, and its theatre, beach and promenade. Besides all this, it boasts the longest pier in Wales, at 700 metres long, and has the only cable-hauled tramway in Britain. No wonder it is often called the ‘Queen of the Welsh Resorts!’
