The First Round of the Lock Stock Ardal Northern League Cup took place over the weekend with a ton of superb ties across North Wales.

Don’t forget, Ardal Leagues sides get 25% off storage with Lock Stock!

16 games were played and a whopping 64 goals scored across the weekend’s action in another thriller of a slate of cup clashes.

The fixtures began with Llangefni playing host to Llanrwst United on the Friday night at Cae Bob Parry. Ending goalless it took penalties to settle the score, with Llanrwst advancing.

The drama wasn’t in short supply on Saturday either with the remaining 15 games taking place. An Angelsey derby saw Treaddur Bay sail past Menai Bridge Tigers in a 5-1 success, whilst keeping to the west Nantlle Vale scored an impressive win over St Asaph City 3-1, and Felinheli knocked out new-boys Connah’s Quay Town.

There we big winners at NFA and Llanuwchllyn who both won 5-0 over Pwllheli and Chirk respectively but the clash of the day had to come at Llangollen who won a 10-goal thriller against Cefn Albion. 3-1 up at half-time, the Albion drew level after the break before a quick-fire double restored Llan’s two-goal cushion. An 84th minute penalty gave the hosts a fright before Llangollen put it to bed with their sixth in stoppage time.

Another big winner came at Llannefydd who brushed aside Conwy Borough 7-1 despite going a goal down early on and leading just 2-1 at the break. Four sides needed penalties to advance on Saturday including Llanidloes Town, Porthmadog and Kerry. Oli Fairbrother (pictured) the hero for Port in the shoot-out.

Finally, Bow Street, Llansantffraid and Radnor Valley all navigated through the First Round to set up a tasty looking last-16. However, one game is still to be played and it was the last of the slated matches over the weekend. Corwen took on Holyhead Hotspur at War Memorial Park and at 0-0 the game could have gone either way. But, with 77 minutes on the clock, a serious injury to Hotspur’s Cai Parry saw the game halted and eventually abandoned. The tie will be re-scheduled shortly.
