Rugby team Mold Youth – backed by North Wales-based storage company Lock Stock Self Storage – recently beat St Clears 10-0 in the Welsh National Youth Bowl in Carmarthenshire.

This is the second away win in a row for the team, following the 35-22 victory at Rhiwbina in the first round of the competition. Mold are top of the North East Wales Youth League, with team manager Sue Miller describing their most recent fixture as a tough game in “less than ideal conditions”.

“We’ve got a big squad of over 30 and they’re quite a young side, so many of them have a couple more years at this level, which bodes well for the future. It was difficult at St Clears and there were fears the match might not be able to be played because it was so wet, but they’ve come through and we’re just hoping for a home draw in the next round,” she went on to say.

Mold also have a flourishing mini and junior section and youth team, including Welsh international James King at the Ospreys. Rhys Williams and Will Bryan have represented RGC 1404 in the Welsh Premiership, while both Alex Schwarz and Lloyd Hayes have both played professional rugby in the English Championship.

Former rugby player and co-owner of Lock Stock Shon Powell said the company enjoys a longstanding relationship with Mold’s junior sides and it’s amazing to see them doing so well, flying the flag for the north.
