Who can hire a Take Stock van?
For insurance purposes the driver must be over twenty-one years old and have at least 12 months driving experience if the license was issued in the UK. If you’re under twenty-five years old, there’s an additional charge of £15.00 per hire. Each additional driver is also just £15.00 extra for the duration of the hire. Unfortunately we can’t hire to you if you have more than six penalty points on your license within the past five years. Please disclose any endorsements or disqualifications when making your enquiry or booking.
What do I need to bring with me?
In order to hire a vehicle you will need to bring, your driving licence (card part of new style licence or paper old style licence), two documents from the past three months to verify your name and address (a utility bill, bank statement etc) and your National Insurance number.
What are the reservation and cancellation policies?
When booking a van, you will be required to pay a £30 non-refundable deposit to secure your booking. You can cancel your booking any time up until the day you’re due to pick your van up.
What if I damage a van?
Insurance is included and there is a £850 excess. If there are any problems with the van on return, your £180 deposit will be held until we determine the cost of repair and you would either receive an invoice for the remaining amount or receive the difference from your deposit if the cost for repair is less than £180.
What do I do if I breakdown?
Don’t worry. Full RAC roadside assistance cover is included with every van hire and we’ll give you information about that when you collect your van.
What happens when I collect a van?
Give yourself plenty of time to collect your van. It can take 10–15 minutes for your details to be processed. You may leave your own car with us during your van hire.
Your National Insurance number will be used to check your driving licence for any points or disqualifications. We’ll charge you £4.00 if you don’t have your National Insurance number with you. You’ll pay a £180 deposit plus the remainder of your hire fee in cash or by credit/debit card. We do not accept cheques. The driver(s) of the vehicle and then person paying the deposit must be present when you hire your van.
We’ll show you your van so you can mark down any pre-existing damage to the vehicle. You’ll leave with a full tank of diesel so we expect it will be returned full or you’ll be liable for an extra fuel charge.
What happens when I return a van?
Be back on time so we can clean your van and do the necessary safety checks before it’s handed over to the next customer. Please let us know if you’re running late and you may incur an additional late fee. If you’re finished earlier than expected, you’re welcome to return to the depot early although you’ll be still charged for the length of the hire period.
You must return your van during opening hours. Please check your local site page. When you return we’ll check your van for damage and a full tank of diesel. If all’s well, your deposit will be returned.
Can I extend my booking?
You can extend your hire for as long as you need, subject to availability. We’ll do everything we can to make that possible. It will help if you can give us as much notice as possible.
What about driving offences and parking fines?
Any driving offences or parking fines incurred during your hire will be redirected to you and your details will be passed to the relevant authorities.
