Business owners in Denbigh and the surrounding areas would be wise to be on their guards at the moment, as the region has seen a spate of break-ins of commercial premises, with five businesses targeted over the weekend of November 17th-18th alone.
According to the North Wales Daily Post, a separate incident also saw a burglar dressed in a Halloween mask make off with beauty products, cash and a computer from Allure on High Street at the beginning of the month.
The latest incidents included two attempted break-ins, with two gaining entry. In one case, a till and CCTV were stolen from Queen’s Salon, while other businesses affected by this kind of crime included Eezi Bite, Cutters Hair and Nail Deluxe, and Daisy’s Milk Parlour.
Inspector Andy Kirkham explained to the news source: “We are aware of the problem and are stepping up patrols in the area. We would also ask owners of commercial premises to review their security measures ensuring they have robust systems in place, and that the public continue to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to us.”
Of course, you can never stop determined people from attempting to break into your property but you can do an awful lot to deter them. For example, make sure you’re using the strongest locks and have a good CCTV system in place. Burglar alarms are a must, of course, and you could invest in good outdoor lighting to protect the shop against burglary.
Lighting your store on all sides will help put people off from targeting you, especially when you consider that the majority of burglaries probably take place at night.
