With just six weekends left until Christmas, many small businesses will be looking for as many ways as possible to boost their sales during the festive period.
Shops in Chester are being given a helping hand with the countdown to Christmas, with a big event planned around the city’s Christmas lights switch on. The Chester Standard revealed that the Business Improvement District (CH1ChesterBID) has been working hard to arrange a host of activities for the evening.
The Christmas lights will officially be turned on this Friday (16 November), with the evening following a ‘12 Days of Christmas’ theme. There will be a procession through the city’s streets involving a brass band, children’s choir, local musicians and actors.
At the head of the parade, which will leave from Town Hall Square at 7pm, will be Santa’s sleigh, complete with ChELFie and ELFie, Chester’s Christmas elves.
These elves will be doing more than just adding to the ambience though, as they’ll be handing out magic glasses that will transform Chester’s streets by allowing you to see festive shapes in the city’s lights.
Organisers are expecting over 15,000 people, so make sure you get there early if you’re planning to stop by for the parade.
As well as the Christmas light switch on, the evening will also herald the opening of Chester’s festive market in Town Hall Square, where around 70 stalls will open for business on Friday.
If all of this sounds a little too festive for you, consider visiting Chester Zoo instead, where you’ll find a magical lantern display. Dozens of animal-themed illuminations will be set up for visitors to enjoy between 23 November and 23 December, Pretty52 reported.
