Denbigh-based Lock Stock Self-Storage is proud to announce that it’s just been named North Wales Company of the Year at the Wales Business Insider Awards, which took place at Venue Cymru.

The company is in fact the biggest container storage business in the UK, with nearly 3,000 containers across 18 sites throughout north Wales and the border counties. It was launched back in 1998 by brothers Nick and Shon Powell after the family’s ceramic design, manufacture and installation company needed some additional storage space.

Their sites range from Holyhead to Bangor, Llandudno, Rhyl, Flint, Chester, Denbigh, Wrexham, Mold, Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Newton, all of them computer-designed to support ease of access. They’re open 24/7 and have cameras, security fencing and lighting – with the containers themselves free from business rates, so it’s no surprise that more than 60 per cent are hired by companies.

Director of the company Nick Powell commented on the award, saying: “We are delighted to have been recognised with this major award which is a tribute to our staff and to the concept of making the most out of the possibilities of a large steel container. We aren’t finished yet and we aim to reach 3,000 containers this summer with further expansion planned as we continue to search for suitable new sites.

“We are always looking to diversify and to react to the market. That’s how we started and you can’t afford to stand still in business. We believe in our product and take great pride in a high standard of service which is shown by the high volume of repeat customers and the positive word of mouth our business receives.”
