A farm in Shrewsbury is about to bring glamping to Shropshire after its application for planning permission was given the go-ahead by Shropshire Council. This means that four timber-clad pods can now be placed on land nearby the access road to the farm, as well as an amenity building that will be home to toilets, showers, a living room and kitchen.
According to the Shropshire Star, the pods themselves will only have room for sleeping, each one measuring 3.6m in length and 2.5m in width… so look out for the name H Evans & Son of Winnington Hall, Halfway House the next time you’re thinking of having a holiday in and around Shrewsbury. Perhaps a spot of glamping would be what the doctor ordered!
The planning document submitted to the council read: “The farm business needs to diversify in order to ensure its longevity. A small glamping site containing four units and amenity building will provide this diversification opportunity. The proposal will create an alternative income for the farm business, and will create a part-time management/cleaning/maintenance role which will be fulfilled by the family.”
Of course, this isn’t the only place you can go glamping in Shrewsbury so until it’s ready to take in holidaymakers, perhaps see what else is out there. What about checking out Abels Harp, glamping huts with views of the incredible Welsh countryside? Or there’s Blackhall Wigwams, just 15 minutes from the Welsh border and surrounded by incredible forests, streams, woodlands and more. You really are spoiled for choice!
