Hilltop Honey, which exports products to the likes of Hong Kong, China, the US, South Africa, Pakistan, Europe and Japan, has just succeeded in securing yet another contract – this time in the Middle East.
The company recently expanded its production base to a 14,000 sq ft facility in Newtown and now has even more reason to celebrate, with eight of its products now being supplied in a trial order to Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain, Wales Online reports.
Founder of the brand Scott Davies, 29, started his business out of his parents’ kitchen with an overdraft of just £5,000 back in 2011 – and he’s been going great guns ever since. Just six years down the line and he’s supplying bee pollen, comb honey and honey to major online, international and high street customers, with main UK clients including Tesco and Sainsbury’s.
“Five years ago, I walked into Newtown to sell my first four jars of honey on a sale or return basis in the vegetable shop. Now I’m supplying thousands of jars to customers across the UK and even as far away as New York and the Far East, which is incredible,” Mr Davies said.
Late last year, the company also confirmed that high end superstore Fortnum & Mason would also be stocking its award-winning creamed, thyme, Yucatan and eucalyptus honeys. Hilltop Honey also recently signed a deal to supply the Co-op with its raw Scottish heather honey in more than 100 stores in Scotland.
